In Spring 2015 the 6th edition of “Generations – Creations” project has been launched in Warsaw, Lublin and Cieszyn. It will be realized until the end of the year. The project brings together two socially and culturally marginalized groups: children from orphanages and seniors from third age universities, groups very different age- and experiencewise. The goal of the project is to create intergenerational bonds and conditions for cultural transmission between the oldest and the youngest generation as well as rousing interests and cultural needs.

In Warsaw, in order to get to know each other, seniors and children created emblems combining their dreams, hobbies, favorite characters and representations of themselves, which they later exchanged with each other. In May they will take part in multimedia workshops, part of which will be a photo session of the participants. Additionally, they will visit the National Library during the “Night of Libraries” event on May 30th.
In Cieszyn, seniors and children participated in art workshops to create a gigantic portrait of famous Polish poet, writer, actor and singer – Jeremi Przybora. During the theatrical workshops participants learned about the output of Kabaret Starszych Panów (Elderly Gentlemen’s Cabaret). Both groups had elocution lessons in the music workshops. They also learned how to use Internet during multimedia classes. Cieszyn edition of the project has been held under the patronage of the mayor of Cieszyn.
In Lublin, seniors and children took part in integration classes and art workshops. They also plan to visit botanical garden, open-air ethnographic museum and local swimming pool.
The projects finale is a theatre performance prepared and realized by seniors and children supervised by theatrical instructors.
The project was implemented with the financial support from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

The project, which has been realized for several years, brings together two socially and culturally marginalized groups: children from orphanages and seniors from third age universities, groups very different age- and experiencewise. The goal of the project is to create intergenerational bonds and conditions for cultural transmission between the oldest and the youngest generation as well as rousing interests and cultural needs. In this year’s edition in Cieszyn, Warsaw and Lublin participants attended art, multimedia, music and theatrical workshops. They also partook in cultural events together. During joint classes children and seniors have created stage scenery to the presentations in which all of them will perform.
We cordially invite you to the shows!
